Event Rules

All attendees and staff of The Floating World are required to know and agree to the following event rules:

  • All activity must be consensual – both inside and outside play areas – in both actions and language. The event working definition of consent – the voluntary agreement or acquiescence by a person of age or with requisite mental capacity who is not under duress or coercion and has knowledge or understanding. In other words: All touch is by permission only.
  • Nudity – Being nude is allowed in play spaces and classrooms but not in any area visible to the general public, especially the registration areas .
  • Cameras and Recording Devices – Any and all cameras or recording devices are strictly prohibited in the NJ Expo and Convention Center, even in classrooms, vending areas and restrooms. If found, they’ll be confiscated by event security and returned after the event (minus any media). An event-authorized photographer will be available for souvenir photos.
  • Cell Phones - Phones must be on vibrate or silent at all times inside the NJ Expo and Convention Center.
    NO – phone use in the play space or the classrooms, NO – photos or video anywhere, NO – audible rings.
    YES – phone calls OK outside of the NJ Expo and Convention Center only, YES – Texting in hallways/lobby is allowed.
    BREAKING THE CELL PHONE POLICY IS GROUNDS FOR EJECTION WITH NO REFUND.
    If you require assistive technology during classes or in the playspace, please speak to a staff member to receive a tag.
  • Solicitation – Accepting pay for sexual services of any kind is illegal in NJ – that includes BDSM, professional dominant/submissive services and “personal training” of an erotic nature, even when payment is made off-site. Solicitation is prohibited; violators will be removed from the event without refund.
  • Weapons NO firearms, explosives, pyrotechnic devices, stun guns, cattle prods, switchblades, or automatic knives allowed. Replica (non-firing) guns, swords, and knives are allowed but should be in a bag or case when not being used in actual play. DMs must be alerted before using weapons in a scene.
  • Alcohol and Drugs – No one carrying alcoholic beverages, and no one who is noticeably intoxicated will be allowed into the NJ Expo and Convention Center. No possession or use of illegal drugs of any kind is permitted at any time on any part of the premises.
  • Smoking – Smoking is not allowed in the NJ Expo and Convention Center by New Jersey state law. Please smoke outside, at a minimum of 15 feet away from the entrance of the building.
  • Registration – All attendees must be 19 years of age or older and provide government issued ID to verify age. Attendees with known medical conditions must state those conditions at the time of registration and alert DMs before scenes.
  • Security – Event Security, DMs, Convention Center Security, State and Edison Township Police and Fire Marshalls may all be on-site to provide a safe environment for our event. Please cooperate with their instructions or you may be removed from the event without refund. Security volunteers are fellow lifestylers, looking to ensure we all have a good and safe experience. Feel free to communicate with them.
  • Wristbands & Badges – Must be worn at all times. Keeping it in your pocket or on your toy bag is not sufficient. Attendees without proper wristbands AND badges will be removed from the event.
  • Facility – Remember, we are renting this facility and we would like to be welcome to return in the future. Do not damage any part of the facility, and respect Convention Center Staff at all times, keeping in mind that they may be vanilla.
